What’s the best thing about Ernst & Young for you personally?

“It’s the flexibility. People are our biggest assets so we’ve learnt how to look after them. I’ve worked at another big accounting firm, I’ve worked with many different clients and I’ve worked at one of the UK’s biggest retail companies so I’ve got quite a lot to compare it with.

“When I joined I wanted to push on pretty quickly and get promoted. I’ve been able to find the opportunities I need to do that so I’ve been promoted twice in five years – that’s relatively fast.

“But now I’ve just had a baby and I want to spend more time with the family so my boss suggested I work a four-day week for the next few months and enjoy it. There’s recognition that I’ve worked hard and contributed a lot to the business. Now it’s my turn to benefit. In my experience, that’s unusual.”
