I started out as a lawyer; I became a tax structured products geek.  You know, I was a deeply technical person.  Now I lead a business fundamentally in 87 countries with thousands of people and a huge P&L.  To be honest, that’s a surprise to me.  That’s a career development that I never really thought was open to me, that I never saw myself doing.  So I would like to think that my career will carry on developing, whether that involves a move outside the firm, whether it means other challenges within the firm, I don’t know, but I must say I’ve been stunned at how my career has developed to date, so I make no predictions for the next five or six years.  There are other interesting things to do in this firm – it’s a huge organisation – therefore I don’t see myself running out of challenges in the firm in the short or medium term.
